Voting Tools Evaluation Process in Falkirk Council Education Services

Several companies are providing a set of voting tools each for a short-term loan evaluation process for a team of Falkirk Council Education Services ICT Masterclass teachers. Part of this evaluation process will involve the completion of an online forum, weblog (this Blog).

The blog will have open access to anyone to view but contributions will be enabled only for the Masterclass teachers and the central ICT Curriculum Support team at Camelon Education Centre. The companies providing the loan sets will also be able to contribute.

Guidelines to evaluation will be issued to Bloggers. They will include the following categories which will be the basis for evaluation process. Each contributor will add comments to each of these headings:
· Ease of setup
· Compatibility/ ease of transfer with current a resources
· Hardware and technical issues
· Comment on range of question styles available
· Can feedback be customized to suit need
· Storage issues
· Pupil response/motivation
· Purchase Costs
· Battery type and replacement costs

On the right-hand pane of the blog there will be a list of the contributors. In addition there will be links to the web resources for each of the 8 systems being evaluated.

The companies will be providing the evaluation sets from the beginning of November to mid-December 2005. They will each be invited to provide a demonstration at the end of October 2005 to the central ICT Curriculum Support team in Camelon Education Centre as well as a one-to-one training session around the same time period with the specific Masterclass teacher who will be evaluating their product. The companies will also be able to contribute to this online blog (to add comments or contribute ideas or provide instructional advice).
